LightSand receives IBM certification for Peer-to-Peer VTS extension over IPPLANO, TX, October 10, 2006. LightSand® Communications, Inc., a company pioneering SAN Connectivity solutions, announced today that it is providing the solution chosen by IBM Portugal to extend its Peer-to-Peer VTS mission critical architecture over IP The IBM customer planned for the deployment of its core production systems at a new data center location. This reorganization required to have minimal operation downtime, and to minimize the risk of service disruption or data loss. The customer executed the migration in collaboration with IBM, and in accord with the IBM Business Continuity Plan. This plan featured a High Availability solution, to guarantee continuous operation for the customer during the relocation, while providing alternative systems to prevent any hardware problem during the relocation. To build such an architecture, two Gbe links (1+1 protection) were used, between the two Data Centers. In addition, LightSand i-7100F's Gigabit Ethernet extension interfaces were connected to the MAN in a redundant infrastructure, to successfully extend the FICON interfaces between the two VTS, and to allow the high speed data transfer between the systems. The LightSand solution satisfied all the objectives set forth in the IBM Business Continuity Plan. The customer was able to migrate all the production data on-line using Pear-to-Pear VTS copy, while continuing normal operations in the new data center. “The stakes are no longer just about distant connectivity, and LightSand clearly differentiates itself from any other product offer on the market today. Our products allow our customers to connect to any standard dataflow, from any device and any network component. Furthermore, we manage any type of data movement for increased reliability, performance and security, all the while, optimizing data outflow to reduce transmission costs and increase transfer speed, said Richard Czech, CEO of LightSand. In the current case, we enabled the successful data migration for a mission critical process using PtP VTS copy over distance, between the main and recovery sites. Our unique product features enabled IBM to extend the FICON applications over IP together with Ethernet Layer 2 traffic, and to optimize transmission performance and cost for the end user. ” LightSand was awarded both the IBM System Storage Proven and IBM Server Proven certifications by IBM for this implementation, recognizing the successful deployment and operations of the LightSand solutions in the actual customer production environment.
